So, I turned 48 on August 19th. I had an incredible day with my lovely hubby and two dear friends. Afternoon tea at the Burj Al Arab no less. Terribly posh. I loved it!! But of course that brought on the dilemma of what to wear...
What do you wear to the world's only 7 Star hotel??
After flicking through my wardrobe, which my husband has decided is the equivalent of a conveyor belt because clothes move through it at a steady rate, I settled on a tea dress by Lady Vintage. Cream with a wide border and a hem and waist of black filigree swirls. And if you're wearing a tea dress, of course you need the obligatory net petticoat to poooof it out. The outfit was finished off with black sparkly, killer heels and a knuckle, skull clutch. How could I ignore that element of RnR... I blame Ben for that.
So, champagne, a harpist who played Happy Birthday for me and the most incredible, dainty sandwiches. Homemade scones with orange jam; yes, jam not marmalade... heavenly; a mouthwatering slither of mustard coated beef; cakes, chocolates, earl grey tea... Omg, sooo much delectable food. My taste buds where completely overwhelmed.
We rolled out of the hotel into our car and meandered our way home, after a thoroughly enjoyable 2 hours. Completely replete and satiated. Apart from more champagne, no more food was eaten all day. Beautiful day, beautiful friends and certainly beautiful food.
What more can a girl ask for.... Well, that's for the next blog.
