I'm really sorry to go on and on and on about my birthday. Yep, I'm still 48, and a few weeks now. But I never got round to telling you about my party. I had a birthday party! Normally, I'm in the UK with my family, but this year I was in Dubai with my friends and I realised it was a perfect excuse to catch up with everyone.
So, of course, me being me... I decided that I needed, no, wanted a sequinned skirt to wear. Now, living in dubai, the City of Bling, I thought this would be an easy purchase. Nope. Not a chance. Sparkly shoes, I could get. A different pair for every day of the year!! But a simple, sparkly, sequinned skirt for my birthday? It wasn't happening. The trauma, the stress... Woe was me.
Then I remembered my friends flying out for my birthday week. I was pretty sure Andy would not mind putting a sparkly skirt in his suitcase!!!
Online shopping is a blessing!
One champagne coloured, sequinned pencil skirt arrived in time for my party. Happy, happy days. Worn with a slouch shoulder black top, with a chiffon dipped back... Secretly sexy as all the fun is at the back! Silver stilettos with a matching clutch bag, and I was good to go. Smokey eye makeup with a vintage inspired up-do. I felt amazing! I was happy with the end result. I felt sexy and curvaceous, and on that day, it was a good thing. Obviously not a fat day!! Haha
But it was more than that. Twenty two of my dear friends made the effort to come out and party with me. My lovely hubby did a great job, organising good food and drink, helium balloons and a unicorn birthday cake, at our 'local'. I felt loved and cherished by everyone. I mixed up my groups of friends that day, and introduced people to new friends. What a lovely feeling.
And that's what it was all about. My birthday was just an excuse to mix my favourite people up. For all my friends, from all walks of my life, to meet up and get to know each other.
Friendship...
A reason, a season, a lifetime.
